I have a 67 GTX in need of the small chrome insert that goes in the hazzard flasher or convertible top control knob. The insert is not currently reproduced.

The insert area is about 5/16".

I would like to either paint the insert area with chrome paint or fabricate an insert from chrome reflective material.

I am looking for any suggestions that you might have on who makes the best product to do either.

Thank you for your assistance in advance.

Hobby stores carry Bare Metal Foil.

It's self adhesive and can be burnished into tight places with a Q-tip.

There is also chrome nail polish that looks decent.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried Bare Metal Foil and it really did not look correct.

Can you tell me where you get the Chrome nail polish?

I am also looking at Holomatic Spectral Chrome and/or Spazstix Chrome paint used by hobbiests to paint model cars.

Try Walgreens, Dillards, etc.

Ask your wife/girlfriend!

Could you take it to get chrome plated? I have tried different chrome paints, even alclad. However non of the paints will ever give you an exact chrome finish. With all the time you will be
spending trying different paints it'll be pay cheaper to get the part chrome plated.

Good point.

I think it will be hard to get 1 - 3 parts 5/16" Diameter done, but if it is done correctly it would be worth investigating and spending some reasonable amount of money on.

Testor model paint-chrome if you're going to try paint but it still is not going to be anywhere near real chrome finish but it's the best "chrome" paint out there....any store that carries models will have it in a small spray can.

One of the biggest drawbacks of ALL the chrome rattlecan paint is the horrible durability...You spend the time involved getting a nice, somewhat acceptable finish only to scratch/rub the finish with little or no effort...And the dash is one of the highest traffic areas...

Scott Smith from Harms reproduced the inserts for the radio, wiper switch etc. What I would call the full size switch knobs, but to the best of my knowledge, no one has reproduced them for the small Hazzard or convertible top switchs.

Thanks Ray for the post. Apparently something has changed because the website did not appear to be correct.

Mike Mancini has agreed to do them so I will be shipping them off to him tomorrow.
