In the market for a bias ply cheater slick for my Valiant and debating between Hoosiers and Mickey Thompson. I used to run M/T ET Streets and liked them, but wondering if the Hoosiers hook better, similar or worse. Has anyone run both brands to compare?

I recently wore out my M/T ET Radials at the Nats and I'm finally buying an extra set of rims to run standard street tires for street cruising and then a race specific DOT cheater slick at the track. Therefore expected life of driving them on the street is NOT a concern. Only worried about how they hook and last at the track.

I know a real race slick would be best, but I need to stay with a DOT type tire due to race class.

Car is an automatic and has 1.60 sixty-foot times with my current M/T Radials.

THANKS in advance for the input.

M/T ET Streets are basically slicks w/ 2 groves cut in them. The radial ET's are pretty nice and have a stiffer side wall that makes the car drive nicer. I'm running Hoosier Drag radials now and pulled a few 1.60's. Probably can squeeze a little more out of them. I think either would work for your car.

I run the QTP's 28 x 14.50 x 15 and they seem to work really good. I dont have the best 60' at 1.51 but its the car not the tires. They have stiifer sidewalls then the slicks so they seem more stable on the road and on the top end. Alot of people say they hook as good as the slicks but seem to be more stable.

Tried them both and I liked the Hoosiers better. They seemed to be more consistant and had a better feel to them IMO. The MT's got real gooey when thet got hot and it was difficult for me to tell just how well they were hooking. LOTS more rubber on my white rear fender quarters with the MT's.

I have run both, and for me the QTP works a little better and holds air with no tubes. The et streets with no tubes will leak down. If you run et streets make sure you measure the rollout they are not always sold as a matched set!

No tubes here and they hold pressure pretty well unless my car sits for a few weeks then they MIGHT lose 2-3lbs.

Hooiser QTP here. I have run them with and without tubes....they hook well either way, but I prefer to run them without tubes. No issues holding air, I think the tires lost about a pound when it sat for a month.

No tubes. I soaped the inside of mine and they hold air all winter long!

I run tubes in my QTP's. I think they recommend tubes.

I had tubes in mine and the hoosier salesman in BIR told me not to run tubes. I had him pull em out.

Hoosier recommends tubes with the Quick Time Pros, but it sounds like many are running them without. Am I reading this right?

That's how I am reading it. When I get a new set, I may try them without the tubes.
