What I was getting at is the 590 will make great power down low, and you won't have to shift higher than 6200. It will however, have a rough idle. How close do you think you are on all other aspects of your combo? Jetting? timing? Cold air intake? 60 ft? Maybe a post on your entire combo, along with shift points, and all details of the time slips is a good idea. There may be some gains to uncover, which will help in deciding just how much cam you need to obtain your goals. With as loose a converter as you have, you can get away with about anything though.

i shift at 6000rpm,trap 6300/6350
i have run this jetting for a couple of years,more fuel does not seem to help,AFR last time checked on the dyno was 13.0-13.2 this showed 416 RWHP and max TQ of 791.5 at 110KMH(about 3500RPM).Peak power was 57/5800rpm
rough idle,so does the 509
the cam does seem to be knocking off at or just after the stripe
1/8 mph is 95-mid 96 7.08-7.15
the only thing not checked as said is P to V
personally i am a little suprised how fast this has gone

I think your combo works well but you will have to up the cam to gain significant power and or have the heads fully ported. The .590 isn't 265 it's 271 dur at .050 and it is lumpy.

With that 5100 flash rpm, you have enough converter to run the 590.
If you do run one, I would install it advanced to at least 102° and probably start at 100°

I measured my mp 590 @ 272 @ .050 no lash. Toss in your effective duration loss with lash, of around 7* and what do you get. I never measured mine with lash figured in though.

MP,s 265*@.050 number is a calculated number off of its advertised duration of 312. 312 x .85 = 265.2

Your car IS Bad Ask!m I think you should keep with the MP cam route and go with the MP 590 if it will fit P/V, your Verts already fine. You will see your two tenths.
