These older cars are so flexible that almost any added structure is a noticeable improvement in rigidity. A case in point: I had a '73 Nova hatchback and a '73 Z28 - likely less rigid than a Mopar due to the GM separate rubber-mounted ft subframe - and I put a pair of those bolt-on Competition Engineering connectors on each car. The improvement was VERY noticeable; the Z28 cornered more predictably (it was pretty much a SoCal canyon-runner) and the Nova quit creaking and was MUCH more solid. I'm sure both would have been even better properly welded & tied into the floor, but the point is even the simplest stiffening was a big improvement. FWIW I know of another car that has welded-in round tubing connectors and the round tubing still allows a little flex; IMO, square or rectangular tubing works better.

This topic seems to come up once a week and always seems to create so much tension and its really simple.

There are many solutions availiable, some simpler than others. Do a search and look at all the examples and then choose one that meets your specific needs/driving habits/usage of the car.

I used the Mancini weld in/bolt in and welded them in. My car is street driven with an occasional track visit or burn out. There is nearly no flex when I jack up one corner.

You will find ALL SORTS of flex just doing it that way...

LIFT UP one corner .... and see for yourself...

BS How would you know??

I did my connectors the same way, night and day difference. If I place a jack under the diff on one side it attempts to lift the whole side of the car. I would say they are very helpful.

I know some connectors are pretty detailed with the custom fitting ridges, etc, but I'm just looking for some bolt-on or weld on straight square connectors. Anybody sell these fairly inexpensively?

Also, has anyone made their own????

I made my own for around 36 bucks in material. A little cut here and a weld there, and I'm good to go.

Follow the link Joe provided, that's how I did mine, works well.

No, you are just an irritating aspect of Moparts at this point.

Your input means nothing and your on again-off again CAPS LOCK malfunction is getting OLD.

Let 'er rip...

On my '73 Duster we cut the rear frame clip in front & back open, used (been a long time) I "think 3"x2" mild steel" And opened the front frame clip and drove it all the way through as 1 piece. Then welded everything closed and around the new connector. Welded everyplace that touched the floor. You could tell a difference as soon as the car was started, very solid. Opened the floor & welded the cage bars to the connectors. Not street driven anymore.
Took a '67 Coronet Stock eliminator car, but used C/M tube and did it very similar. Both cars are very rigid now. Don't remember the dia. of the tube, but it just did go in with some "inspiration" while it was up on a lift. Think it took about a days worth of labor start to finish.

....you don't like it ? ...change-the-channel(don't read it - what-the-hell - if you find it that offensive USE the ignore feature).

That is what most people that have over a room-temperature IQ do.

much to the chagrin of everyone here i got the MagnumForce double tube style ones. Bolt on each end and to the floors.

I just finished looking at the Magnum Force website and this is what I think I'll go with. Do you notice a difference? And can you tell when you lift one corner of the car up?

You haven't been important enough to take the time to ignore... I guess now that you're on my ignore list you've moved up a rung! Congrats.

Made my own on my '73 charger, used 1x3 rectangle tube. Welded from where frame horn for rear meets the cross frame (?) on the chassis to where the front frames meet the torsion bar cross member. My crappy former 18 year old selfs welding skills weren't very good but they made an IMMEDIATE difference. They are not straight, or should say parallel, with the rockers because the frame rail come in at different places but I thought it would make more sense to put a direct link between those frame pieces.

Cost me little to nothing and they DONT hang down at all! you have to look up from the pinch point of the rockers to see them.

Make your own, quick, easy, and cheap. You don't have to cut up the floors like everyone tries to convince you. Its not a roll cage.

Those custom made boxed frame connectors look good guys..On the US car tool subfrsme connectors. The install was not to bad, some trimming was required . It took me 2 or 3 hrs to get them fitted. I like the way they look (they look kinda factory) and the fact you dont have to cut into the floor board. The extra support being welded to the floor pan don't hurt either .I would do it again .

depending on what class your in for scca rules only allow bolt-in connectors - not welded in. Thats only if your running in autox...and if you care..
