I know some connectors are pretty detailed with the custom fitting ridges, etc, but I'm just looking for some bolt-on or weld on straight square connectors. Anybody sell these fairly inexpensively?

Also, has anyone made their own????

I just bought enough 2x2 to do some for my '64 Savoy. I wonder if I should build a couple of sets and see if there's much of a market? Maybe I can beat the existing prices...what would be a good price?

Yup, I make my own out of 3x2" square tube .100 wall. I slot open the front part of the rear sub-frame in front of the front leaf spring perches. The 3x2 tube slides right in. The 3x2 tubes protrudes through the floor about 1" in height in the area where the rear passengers feet would go. I just cut the carpet's insulation over top of the connector and throw in my floor mats after and it's not noticeable. The part under the front passenger/driver feet area is under the floor so no modding needed there. Just weld it up to the torsion bar crossmember and in the back and you're done. Makes a huge difference in chassis rigidity. Before if I had one corner jacked up in the air, my doors would be very hard to open, now they open/close smooth even with one corner high up on a jack stand.

Here's a pic of my brother doing the same thing on his 66 charger while he was replacing rusted floor pans.

I used some old Direct Connection frame connectors on my 71. They are regtangular, like 1 1/2" X 2.00" or so.
Very easy to put in with no floor cutting. They made a huge difference and are plenty stiff. You don't need 2 X 3" tubing, even 2 X 2" is overkill for a street car. IMO.
Yes you can make your own very easy.

Daytona turbo, please make your picture smaller so we don't have to scroll back and forth.

getting the same ones for my charger. Figued it was asmall block car, but didn't want to cut up a clean floor. Great thing is you can bolt it in or weld, makes it pretty easy decision for the builder to decide.

Maybe for a race car,for a street car? Come on!! I did mine much like Challenger1. Used 1 1/2x 2 1/2 slid over the rear stub and welded front and rear. Never touched the floor pan. Made an entirely new car!!! Easiest and cheapest($40.00) mod I've done!

Car I'm working on has the US Car Tool versions.

I didn't put them in, but heard they were a mother to fit to the floorpan. Fully welded they do look nice though.

My problem is they interfer big time with the parking brake system.
I'm still trying to figure out how to make them functional without looking all hookie.

Hey DUMBbell ... try-it yourself.

You need to UPgrade your knowledge ...

I have done it myself, more than once. Like I said there is a huge difference between my cars that I do drive all the time. One has connectors and one doesn't. I can tell by driving them and jacking them up.

How many have you installed and driven???

I did the 3X2 through the floor on a 71 back in the early 80s, it was no better than the 71 I have now in the pictures above. It's a waste unless your gonna do roll bars for the track.

What have you done??

I have many times! My simple cheap little connectors took care of 90% at least. Read the OP,he's looking for something simple.....Challenger1 and I gave him some options, you told him don't bother unless you hack the floor up

These have an opening for the e brake cable.

Ive used the Mopar Perf connecters and just had to move were the cable goes through the torsion bar cross member

This statement is simply WRONG. Any chassis guy will tell you that. The pic that DT posted above is the CORRECT way of doing-it.

And other than that NON-competitive dragster you had ....I have done more work on cars in my life than you will ever THINK of doing.

WHY do you continue to step-in-it and have to eat your own words ?

U R nothing but a look-at-me SAD Sack
