Can not locate old post on wrinkle black paint for 1970 E-Body dual snorkle air cleaner. Which brand of paint looks closest to original?

I like the Harley Davidson wrinkle black. IMO it is the closest.

Plasti Kote #217 is a black wrinkle finish.

Mopar Muscle did a story on an air cleaner resto back around 92. I think Brewer's actually did the work. I can provide the issue info when I get home. I know it's a white cover with a Charger emblem on it IIRC. I actually bought that air cleaner since I needed one at the time.

I did mine years ago and I cannot remember which paint I used but you need to take a hair dryer to it and dry the paint with it to get it to wrinkle correctly.

I used the Krylon wrinkle paint on my 69 air cleaner. If you follow the directions on the can, it works pretty good. I had best results when the parts were in direct sun so they would get good and hot.

OK I am home now the magazine was the Feb/Mar 1991 Mopar Muscle, (25th Anniversary of the Charger) the article is "A New Wrinkle" on page 64. The article is a reprint ans was published once before

They bead blasted it

Painted the inside with Plasti kote T3 Hot Rod Black to provide the right degree of gloss

Applied a single heavy coat to the top

Allowed ample time for the T3 to dry then applied the Tempo 817 black wrinkle enamel outside, one heavy even coat. Look at your watch...Wait exactly 10 minutes

Apply a second heavy coat Wait exactly 10 minutes

Apply a third heavy coat you won't see any wrinkling yet.

Apply the Heat carefully and evenly and the wrinkles will eventually appear
