My problem with the MP paint is that it doesn't stay on. Usually in less than a year it starts comming off and rust shows through. It looks good going on and nice right after you paint it.

Maybe i'm doing something wrong. I sandblasted my intake clean and then applied about 2 or 3 coats, allowing for sticky dry in between.

I'm not going to use it any more.

Love them 68 MOPARS! GTS 340 auto, Charger R/T 440 4-speed, Superbee 383 auto, GTX 440 auto, D100 (new front frame 5.7 hemi - in process), Formula S 340 4-Speed A/C (it's green), 383 auto Roadrunner (maybe a hemi - waiting) and a 68 W200 Power Wagon. Drivers: 07 Cummins and 14 Ecodiesel 4x4.

I always spray my parts down with brake parts cleaner to remove any impurities. Here are the valve covers just prior to paint:

I've even taken a propane torch to all metal parts and "burned" or evaporated the fluids, grease, liquids off or out of the pores, cracks, corners, etc.,............wait a while before you do this if you just used lacquer thinner, or contact cleaner...."don't ask me how I know"

I painted my intake with MP torquise and went on fine, still burn't off at the crossover. I have five cans if anyone wants them, we just have to figure how to ship as cannot mail them. I order a can from my local chrysler dealer and when they order came in it was a case of 6 cans. I am only keeping two so three cans are yours free if we can find a shipping source. thanks

Ive found that it's not the paint (either rattle can or spray gunned) as much as the prep. I've been epoxy priming bare metal, both cast iron heads and block and sheetmetal valve covers etc prior to spraying on color for years. An inexpensive alternative is to use self-etch primer ina spray can. Any body supply store will have it. Don't go overboard.. just dust it on light to achive hiding then go over with your engine color. My oldest was done in '92... no peel or flaking.

Here`s my 71 vintage 440 which is dressed as a 68 vintage engine that is going into my Charger. It was sprayed with the Mopar spray bomb paint . I`ve always had good luck with it.
