Well, with no luck in selling, I've decided to restore to a nice driver status. Its down to a bare shell other than suspension. I'm hoping to have at the paint shop by the weekend.

Yea, she's going back a 4spd. The original 383/4spd are long gone. It has a very good running, rebuilt 440 and 833. Factory 3.55 suregrip, so it should be fun. Other than buckets and fold down arm rest, its pretty much going to be back stock.

Its ralley red. My GTX has air grabber, so I doubt I'll add it. The GTX is very similar, but not a 4spd. I picked up the RR because of the 4spd and color.

WOW, you are rockin' and roll'n on that thing. Looking good. Your splash shields look great. How did you redo them to look so nice? Media blast and dye/paint?

Scrubbed with Mean Grean degreaser and westleys tire cleaner. Misted some satin black on them. Same for headlight ring plastic.

uhg...body shops! Projects always get pushed to the side. I hope to have it back within the next 60 days. Only 2-3 months off schedule.

1970 383-HP fully rebuilt. Comp. Cams. Xtreme 274 cam, 72-cast iron Thermoquad intake and an NOS TQ carb. I'll run factory manifolds. Just used headers for cam break in on the engine test stand.

Thanks! Its an Oklahoma car, so it was very solid with only minimal rust repairs needed.

Finally got the car back today...nearly a year later. I know, seems strange to wait that long...but the guy does good work for the money. And, it was a year of free storage.

The painter only painted a few bolts that held the fenders on. So, I decided to pull them and just put the engine in from up top.

Not allot of progress this year. Will be getting the trans ready to mate to the engine at some point next month. 56 Jag has taken over my time this year.

Bumpers are going to tri-city plating this weekend.

Thanks. I'm going the "driver quality" resto on the chassis. I want drive and enjoy it. POR15 on the the floor pans after some wire cupping on a 4" grinder. Not exactly a fun job, but OK to keep the pans protected.

What about the bumpers? I see you got them back but how did Tri-City do? I'm going to have them do mine as well.

The back is installed and looks fantastic. Will take some pics for you..also with new lenses installed as well.

I've had 4 sets done by Tri-City and all have came back in great condition. My A12 bumpers were the originals and had antenna holes drilled in them as well as holes for a hitch, and they welded them up and rechromed them. They look fine to me, but have yet to finish the car. Good honest transactions. 70 Dart, 68 GTX, 71 RR, and 69 RR. i try to use originals because I feel the metal is better, but have not physically looked at a new AMD bumper since they became available.

Honestly, juggling 2 cars and space, so spring next year. I'll put in storage for the winter.

Switched tires to 70 series. 60s too low.

Looking good! What size wheels and tires did you use on the front and back? I was thinking about the same exact wheels for my GTX.

I went with 15x7's all around. 255x70s rear, 225 or 235 x 70's front. I started with 60's, but they seemed too small to me. 15x8.5's were too tight.

Hey cdp, i think you are correct about going to a 70 series tire.
Here's my 71 with a 15 x 8 Weld with a 275-60-15 tire.
Will a 70 series tire fit okay on an 8" wide rim?

Update: Got the RR out of storage this 9/11 weekend after about an 18-month hibernation. The 71 GTX engine rebuild last year got in the way. Working on some clutch problems and am actually going to get it prepped for a repaint. Too many flaws and some color die-back that bothers me. It is up and running. Sounds great with the CompCams XE274 cam. Anyone else have Mopar_ADHD that keeps them working on too many projects at once?

@76Beeper, yes, a 70 series should work fine on an 8" rim. I experimented with an American Racing TTO with the 255-70 on a 15x8.5, and didn't care for how the bulge was when inflated. It was really close to the wheel lip and just didn't look right, so the tire was remounted on a 15x7, and it worked great for me. My final tire is 255/70 rear, 225/70 front. My front clip isn't on yet, so its hard to see how it fills the wheel wells. The RR is equipped with 3.55 gears, but the drive ratio specs out to 3.23 with tall tire. Something to think about.

Currently, I have the same wheel set on a 71 GTX, same tire, but in 60 series and do not like the stance. IMO, the 70 series is the best combo.

Got my clutch squared away. Turned out that the clutch fork bracket was slightly bent back a little, not allowing the fork to fully engage in the throw out bearing. I went ahead and replaced the side cover of the transmission with a fresh one from Brewers Performance, installed an improved adjustment ball assy. from later model MaMopar, and pulled the clutch spring from under the dash to work better with a diaphragm clutch. Now I have full correct adjustments and everything is new.

Decided that there are a few paint issues I'm not happy with. A bubble in the door corner, a few chips, and a few light spots where full coverage didn't happen. Plus I'm adding exhaust tips and a cut-out valance. So, it will receive a full repaint over this winter. The shop said that they would install and align all sheet metal and decals. So, hopefully, come spring she will nearly completed.

Looks like a nice car to start with. I look forward to seeing some winter progress pics.
