I'm in the middle of a front suspension upgrade with viper calipers, bigger torsion bars (from a 68 RR), boxed lca's, and a sway bar. The bar is from a '68 RR 383 4bbl car (.94 dia). I am installing the bar on my '67 Coronet which didn't have a sway bar to begin with. What I need is the proper location to mount the brackets and bushings on the k-frame. There is a hole at each end of the k-frame, on the fwd side lip that I think is where the fwd bolts go. Is this correct?

That sounds correct. I took a sway bar off a 64 Ply to put on my 64 polara that didn't have one and thats how it mounted. I think mine had two mounting holes on each side though.

I don't know about b-bodies, but 67-72 a-bodies (and even some 73-??) had the holes in the k-member for the sway bar (at least all that I've seen).

Thanks for the reply's. The only reason I am asking is that the are two holes on the fwd side of the k-frame on the upward bend. One set of holes are closer to the center where the arms start to bend up. The other set of holes are closer to the out side of the k-frame just below the strut rod.

OK, I think the two holes on the fwd side are for the sway bar brkt's, they seem to line up with the brkt I have. I can't seem to figure out how the bar goes on the car, I know that sounds pretty dumb! It seems it's the wrong bar for a b-body, does anybody have pics of there bar installed.

i don't have a close up shot of it, but the sway bar actually goes above the k-member on my car (on those little brackets), and the ends terminate on mounts that look like they were drilled.

There are a few different aftermarket sway bar mounting arrangement. Are you using factory sway bar bushing and mounts or aftermarket poly ones with U-strap holders and a sway bar bushing adapter?

Here are the sway bar adapters I used on my factory sway bar when I had the early style K frame/LCA's in my 68 Barracuda. They do away with the 66-69 bushings that are a PITA. But it does make the sway bar sit lower than stock.

Do you have the calipers mounted in the rear. Sometimes you can make that work with the factory calipers but I don't know about the Viper Calipers. Are these AREngineering caliper kits you are using??

What are your plans with this car? You have some great brakes to start with. Do you plan in the future to get some bigger T-bars, sway bars, and wide Z rated tires to keep up with the brakes?

Well it looks like I won't be installing the sway bar. I must have the wrong parts or I am too dumb to figure this out! I thought the bar and lca's were from the same car ('68 RR), or I am still missing some parts. The lca's that I put on the car have the link tabs near the ends of the lca between the lower ball joint and the strut rod (66-69 b-body). I could not find the brtks or hardware to bolt the bar to the k-frame, so I got a set from energy suspension p/n 9.5160G, 15/16" dia greaseable bushings with the brkts. If I put the bar up with the end links first, the holes in the k-frame don't line up the bar/brkts at all, unless the bushings are suppose to be on the bend in the bar?
The car is for street/strip use, I had 10" drums on the front and they were not doing the job very well. I also wanted to upgrade from the 273 t-bars and add a sway bar to help handling a little. I also added the lca plates. Some day I will add the bigger tie rods and quicker steering. The calipers are rear hung using ARE mounts, so those are not even in play here.

I'd get the sway bar loosely hooked to the k-member first. Then do the sway bar end links very loosely if possible. Then lower it on the ground. With the car off the ground the sweep of the LCA will tug on the end links making it very hard to tighten up. Especially if they are polys. You may have to adjust the height of the end link so you don't get too much bind at ride height.

Those black plates in my picture above are adapter brackets. Do you have something like that in your kit from Energy? Only two bolts hold that in. The adapter should bolt to two holes in the K-member. Holes should look like this.

Yes, those are the holes I've been talking about, I have those in my k-frame. No, I don't have the adapter brkts, and they didn't come with the kit I got. So I guess that means I need more parts for this to go on. If you look at the fsm it does not show the adapter brkts, so I thought the bar just bolted to the k-frame. Thanks for the help.

The adapter allows you to use the flat U-strap poly bushings.

The factory bushing on a 66-69 are rubber surrounded by a welded over bracket. It sounds like you never had the factory bushings/bracket to k-member setup??? Do you have pictures.

I'm going to see if I can find a picture of the factory sway bar to K-member bushing/bracket on the net or something...

You need this kit from engergy if you want to run the flat common type bushings.

listed lots of places for sale: http://www.ultrarev.com/product.php?productid=41137

This is the poly version of the stock for 66-69 B-body sway bar bushing that gets slid into the stock welded around bracket like Jim (Hemi71x) shows below:

http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/part....5665&trk=12

Getting these into the factory brackets can be a SOB!!! Lots of soap, channel locks, vise grips another set of hands, and patience. Some say it's tricky, some say they needed medication afterwards...

Here's a picture of a 66-69 b body sway bar with the sway bar mounting bracket.
