Have a question. Have a 1968 dana 60 rearend from a charger and the spring purches have been cut and have chevy mounts in it (yuk). Since the perches are going to get removed, figured it would go into a nice 1971 Charger project in the back. WOn't be happening for a while yet, so just trying to get an isea what size of rims I need to be getting for it. Looking to but alot of rubber back there even for a street car.

If anybody has done this conversion, please let me know what size rim/tires you have gotten in there. Pics would be cool too.

a 68-69 rear in 71 Road Runner/GTX w/o moving springs takes a 10" wheel with very little backspacing, don't know if a Charger will be different

3rd Gen Charger Big Tire Thread

all of that info is for standard width rear axle, his 68 Dana is about 3" shorter than the original.

Is this thread going to become another math is hard deal?

The guy used a 15x10 with 5.5" of backspace. Then needed a 5/16 spacer. Let say 5.25bs now to keep fractions easy... Early axle ~3" shorter = ~1.5 less per side. So lets subtract that.

15x10 with about 3.75 backspace should be pretty dang close! LOL

Where's Barbie when I need her

I read the post, but looks like everybody is using their stock rearends. The dana 60 I want to use is from a early b-body which is about 2.5in shorter than the stock one. I was figuring with the narrow width and Dr Diff kit that it could get possibly get 15X10 or 15X12 rear wheels back there and still have pleanty space for driving and tire exspansion. Since neither of my cars are here to do any measuring, I don't have a way to check the spacing for a few weeks. I'm trying to find some vintage slot mags for the fit, and hope that someone already did the work and could shed some light on it. Hopefully I can find a nice pair of rims by the time the car is here and ready to work on.

Thanks everyone for your help on the info.

Finding 10 or 12 inch vintage slots is hard enough, much less in a specific back space. Maybe selection is better in California. Can I place an order?

My '71-'74 B-body 1 1/4" offset spring hanger/shackle kit works nicely with a '68-'70 B-body rearend, 10" wheels with 5" of backspacing and MT Sportsman S/R 28/12/15 or Hoosier 29/12.50/15 Pro-street radials.

If the springs are not moved inward, the housing ends interfere with the U-bolts.
