Just wondering what the issue is with hooking your electric choke to your power scorce at the alt? The garage next door put my carb on my truck and they hooked it there, and I know in the instructions it says not to. They told me it was no big deal. The volt were reading around 14.6 and I've since made the MAD upgrade bypassing the alt gauge on the dash and I'm now getting alittle over 15 volts. I'm wondering it it has any thing to do with them wiring my electric choke up to my alt. Thanks for any help.

I'm going to replace the voltage regulator today with a new one and see what I get for a reading. The one that's on it looks pretty old any way.

Which lead on the alt is it connected to? ? I know you don't want to connect it to the plus side of the coil which seems to be a popular place on big blocks .

This truck has a 440 in it and they spliced into it right behind where it hooks to the alt on the red wire feild.

The ballast resistor plastic plug looks like it got hot at one time as well, but the wire look decent.

On the 2 wire field alt one field is 12 volts with the key on or ign 1. Thats the circuit to use as it also goes to the voltage reg to get a volt reading and it feeds the alt field and feeds the 12 volts to the ballast. Its basically the J2 circuit which is key fed 12 volts and its fine to feed the electric choke with it. Ron
