About how much power can you make with a stock small block? before you push the bottom end out of it

it's a 71 stock block 340 stroked to a 416 steel crank h beam rods all arp studs holding it together 2 bolt main

I have 600hp on a stock block... its been running a
FEW years so I would say it can take more than 600hp

9secondphil has a very simailar motor, maybe he will chime in his motor is in a 1969 Baracuda that he hits with some NOS, the car runs in the low tens and high nines with the NOS. that motor made 525 HP on CA pump gas years ago, he has since hopped it up some more with different parts, I have no idea wihat it makes now

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)

I think the general rule is 600hp, A few years back we built a 416 w5 engine out of a 70 340 and broke a cyl wall 659hp @ 7k, We rebuilt on a 74 360 block with 414 cid using the same top end and cam but went to alu rods, lighter pistons and steel 2 bolt main caps with studs... turned that combo to the high 7ks with no problems for the first year.. Ended up caming down for high 6ks for the last 2 years with no problems so far, But I don't know exactly how much power the newer combo makes.... I call it @ 599hp to play it safe

I think 600 hp is pretty safe IF it has a good balance job,and you stay away from detonation. That is the main reason I run a good quality fuel and don't take chances with cheap stuff.

my 416 w5 at 600+ hp showed some bad capwalk. stock caps with studs and rediculous girdle.
