I once had a '71 Truck that came with a 383. I stuffed in a 440 a few months later. It had headers on it too. The only issue was the fact that one block is taller than the other. When I put the 440 in, my pipes rattled on the frame cause the headers were raised with the engine. Just a little adjusting and all was good. As far as the headers mounting up, should be no worries. Good luck!

i've tried and i even took the engine mounts and towers off and jacked the engine up with no luck,is it easier/better to pull the engine and put the headers in,then set the engine in,man i should have left the small block in it,on second thought i should quit griping and just get it done, lol,it should b worth it,i hope, thanks everyone.

Most likely they are not for an A-Body with a 383, they are unique and are only made by a couple vendors. TTI has the big tube headers (CPPA type) and there are a couple of old designs with 1-5/8" tubes made by Headman and Blackjack I believe.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Hedman's 78030 header (original application is for B/E bodies) will fit a 383 into an A-body engine compartment but the 440 is just too tight!

This is a wide engine, so yes...it would certainly help to remove the T bars. The center link is in the way in every header install I've ever done too. Also, get the front of the car as high as is safely possible.
