It was an LA town van. No desert until the ride.
Story goes that the fire was electrical, guy took it to a shop who did some work and left a wire on the exhaust.
Guy drove it home and WOOF!
Judging from the remains, I'd guess it was the main battery cable from battery to solenoid or solenoid to starter.
That's the area with the most cooking.
The entire roof is singed or worse inside, and no paint on top from the windshield back to the quarters.
Spent a little time yesterday clearing out all the stuff inside. The seller had been collecting a bunch of parts to redo the van and cleaned up the mess inside, but had not done any renovation. I did get a bunch of good parts so the stuff I need is a alot less and I have a wiring harness and engine to swap in.
The big thing is the roof (buckled) and body/paint. I hope to get going on it when class starts again. I do have another parts van with a nice roof if it comes to that.
The big thing aside from the body is the rear sub-harness and engine harness, both of which I can make from scratch if I can't find good replacements.
