It has been a while since I last bought the Spring Kit for re-curving a Distributor but for the life of me I cannot remember who carries them. I thought it was Mr Gasket but now I am not so sure. I need to re-curve the distributor for a MOPAR electronic ignition on my 383. I need to reduce the initial timing by using a stiffer spring in the distributor weights. Got to get rid of the pinging under acceleration but otherwise the car runs like a scalded cat. I just cannot remember who sells those spring kits. Thanks MOPARTS

Mopar Performance's recurve kit is # P4007968, but they are called "lightweight", for quicker spark advance.

"I need to reduce the initial timing by using a stiffer spring in the distributor weights."
A stiffer spring will not effect the initial timing at all !! Spring kits only change the rate which the advance comes in.

He mis-typed. The car wants more intitial cause it's a little hard to start once warm, and at light excel under cruz conditions he pings. Taking it out at the dist stops the ping but makes it even harder to start.

You can get the recurve kit through mopar performance(they added in ther last catalog) or from Mallory (part number 29014 I believe). P5153446 is the mopar performance part number.
