I recently bought a 0.005" undersized timing chain, and I'm wondering - is each link 0.005" shorter or is the entire chain 0.005" shorter? Thanks in advance for any help.

The crank centerline to cam centerline distance is supposed to be .005" shorter.

The lower hub is larger for an undersized chain. So if you were to measure edge to edge from top of upper to bottom of lower of stocker, they would be the same distance on the undersized chain.

My big block was line bored. Two new timing sets each gave me 1/2" slop in the chain at the middle of the slack side. I got a .005" shorter setup from 440 source last week. Perfect now.
