i'm probably opening a can of worms.... but i have about 5 sets of perfect rear panels and saw 3-4 more sets at Garlits this past weekend... who is going to pay $400+ for a new reproduction when you can buy excellent originals between 20 and 100 bucks?
You got any perfect white rear panels you want to sell me for 20 to 100 bucks? Then let shoot me a PM and I'll take 'em off your hands I hope you are getting the idea that the fronts won't sell like hotcakes until you make the rears.

See what I mean. There are no white panels out there at all. You have 4 or 5 sets and saw several at the last show. I bet they were all black as well. The ones of us who need something beside black are just out of luck until the colored panels come out. Hope you get the rears made shortly after the fronts come out.

Put me down for a white set! I need em bad... Was going to get the palaco ones but I think I'll wait. When do you think you will have a set of front and rears in white ready for a challenger??

Darn, That sounds like a pretty cool item, but somehow I missed it while walking around the Garlits show.
Keep up the good work, I'm looking forward to seeing a set of those.
Yes, I suggest marking the cutouts for everything on the back. power windows, remote mirror, cuda emblem, gran coupe emblem, woodgrain inserts.
I'd also suggest making new rear panels to go with your new front panels. Hardtop rears seem the obvious choice since way more hardtops were made than verts. Mark the cutouts on the back of the rear panels also. power windows, ashtray, woodgrain inserts, rear seat shoulder belt. (you might also consider marking the correct shape for the 74 seatbelt hole, although it wasn't marked on originals, it is a different size than the ashtray hole)
Many Many thanks for using the correct material. Pay very close attention to getting the grain pattern correct, and I think you'll have a winner, even at $900 a set.
To save on your costs for now, I'd leave the seatbacks to BEA, and let us forage for good used kickpanels. Kickpanels aren't very visible anyway.

Oh, one more important feature of the rear panels is that they have countersunk screw holes. Since the current reproduction panels have NO screw holes, I think this is an area that you can outshine the competition.
Just a heads up... 70 Challenger rear panels have one of the screw holes located differently than the later years. I haven't checked, but maybe barracudas are the same way. It would be worth checking into that if you are going to make rear panels.
If there is a difference in hole location, and you have to choose which style to make first, please keep production #'s in mind. For example, often a part will be made for 71-74 challengers and the unique 70 version will get skipped. The logic is that the new part will fit 4 years of car instead of just 1 year of car. What they forget is that there were about as many challengers made in 70 as there were in 71-74 combined. 70 was a huge year for challengers. Of coarse barracuda production #'s will be different.

Joel,
I must throw my hat in the ring for rear panels to be done as well (at minimum in white and black), and, in addition, to satisfy the SERIOUS need (myself included) by convertible owners for rear panels. Also, if Dynacorn actually goes forward with the rumored production of Cuda bodies, that will open up an entire new revenue stream.

FWIW I spoke with Dynacorn at SEMA, they are doing both Challenger & Cuda bodies, Challengers will be first followed by Cudas. They did Challengers first because of a deal that Chrysler made with them, supposedly a "Continuation series" of brand new 1970 Challengers available new from the dealer (sounded far fetched to me but that's what the guy said) was planned but fell through when Chrysler had $ problems, however Dynacorn had already started building tooling for them.....

because of a special project we will soon be cooperating on the 'cuda rears for convertibles will most likely be the first rears in production. Because of the low production numbers expect a high production price.

Hey Joel (Metroman), Can you put a list together so we can see who wants what color so we know if we are close to meeting the quoter for each particular color order please ?
I need Red Convertible front and rear, a set of Blue hardtop panels and a set of Tan hardtop interior panels, all for Barracuda, and i would drill all my own holes that are needed for window winders and such things
Great to see this is coming as a reality for the hobby.
Kenny.

the picture is a small sample of the grain to be applied to the tooling this coming week, it is sitting on top of an original door panel. After hours of browsing several close samples of grain this is what will be applied to the interior door panels, seat backs and rear panels.. from a foot away you cant see where the sample ends and the original door panel begins.

I'd be interested in a white hardtop set and a black convertible set. Have you arrived at pricing for these? Will both fronts & rears/hardtop & convertible versions be available simultaneously?
Thanks, Paul

Will you be selling them directly, or wholesaleing them to a distributor?
I'm just wondering where we'll be able to buy this wonderfull product.
I talked to some people today that had seen it in person, and they were very impressed.

At the moment the panels will be stocked by Mega, Herbs, MCB, Deutschman Automotive and Metro but will be also available thru all 60+ Metro dealers. Call 'em and tell them your color preferences as these will be only available with a pre-paid order.

Cool! Any idea when Challenger hardtop rears would be available (black)? I've got a set of Palco panels I haven't installed yet, and would gladly switch to your product.
The location of one of the rear panel mounting holes changed between 70 & 71. If you have to choose one design over the other, pick the 70 design. In 70 the screw went into the metal in the C pillar area. Any 71-74 car could drill this hole with no problems. In 71-74 the screw went into a metal tab at the rear of the quarter glass. On 70 cars, this metal tab is not present, it would have to be fabricated, and even then, the screw goes in towards the glass. I think the 70 design is better. Also, about half of all the 1970-1974 challengers were 1970 models. 1970 was a big sales year.
Here's a picture of some driver side rear panels.

I need to ask a dumb question here. If I can put together all of your posts, this is the order of the production of the panels. Cuda fronts, Challenger fronts, seat backs, and lastly Cuda htp rears. After that, you have no agenda as to when you may produce conv. rears. So it is going to be sometime before I can buy a compete set of cuda htp panels in white, right?
